Do not connect a TAM elsewhere on the same phone line
(unless you have the Unique Ring service).

Connections

The external TAM must be plugged into the back of the machine, into
the jack labeled EXT. Your machine cannot work properly if you plug
the TAM into a wall jack (unless you are using Unique Ring).

Plug the telephone line cord from the wall jack into the back of
the machine, in the jack labeled LINE.

Plug the telephone line cord from your external TAM into the
back of the machine, in the jack labeled EXT. (Make sure this
cord is connected to the TAM at the TAM's telephone line jack,
and not its telephone jack.)

Set your external TAM to four rings or less. (The machine's Ring
Count setting does not apply.)

Record the outgoing message on your external TAM.

Set the TAM to answer calls.

Set the Answer Mode to External TAM.
