Removing the centre seat
backrest (XC70)
(Models with 3-portion rear seat)
·
Press the button on the top edge of this
portion of the backrest to release the catch.
·
Fold the backrest slightly forward.
·
Pull the handle on the back or the backrest
(see above illustration) to release the lower
portion of the backrest from the rod. Lift
out the backrest.
Contact your Volvo dealer for information on
accessories that can be placed between the
outer portions of the backrest.

Rear seat and cargo area
Refitting the centre seat backrest
(Models with 3-portion rear seat)
·
The right-hand portion of the backrest
must be upright when refitting the centre
portion.
·
Refit the backrest by pressing the lower
portion onto the rod until it locks into place.
Contact your Volvo dealer for information on
accessories that can be placed between the outer
portions of the backrest and seat cushion.
WARNING!
(XC70 with 3-portion rear seat)

For reasons of safety, the centre seat

backrest should never be left loose in
the car.
·
If the centre seat backrest is removed,
hard braking may cause unsecured objects
in the cargo area to be thrown forward
between the outer backrests.
·
The right-hand side of the backrest must
be upright when the centre seat backrest is
folded into place. Otherwise, the centre
seat backrest cannot lock into place and
the centre seatbelt cannot be used.
Centre armrest (XC70)
(Models with 3-portion rear seat)
The centre seat backrest can be used as an
armrest.
·
Remove the centre seat backrest as
described to the left.

Turn the backrest over (the front of the
backrest should be up)
·
Press the backrest back onto the rod until
it locks into place.
To reset the backrest to its normal position,
pull the handle (which is now on the bottom of
the front) to release it from the rod. Refit the
backrest following the directions to the left.
WARNING!
If the centre seat backrest is removed,
unanchored objects in the cargo area can be
thrown forward through the outer portions
of the backrest during hard braking.
