Symbols: this mode allows you to enter symbols, such as
punctuation marks.

Emoticons: this mode allows you to enter emoticons, such as
happy faces.
Note: When you are in a field where you can enter characters,
the text input mode indicator displays on the top right
portion of the screen.

Landscape mode
There are two different methods for changing Text Input
Mode, depending on which mode you are holding the device.
In Portrait mode a 3x4 numeric keypad displays with the
default set to T9Ab (predictive text) mode. In Landscape
mode a QWERTY keypad displays in Abc (text) mode.
Changing Text Input Mode—Portrait mode
1. Tap the screen to display the keypad.
2. Touch the Abc key and select from the following:
• T9 Abc
• T9 ABC
• T9 abc
• Numeric
• Symbols
• Eomoticons
