Powering Up

Before you supply power to the chassis, Dell Force10 recommends that you re-inspect your equipment
rack and chassis. Verify that:
• The equipment rack is properly secured and grounded.
• The chassis is bolted and secured into your equipment rack.
• Make sure the ambient temperature around the unit (which may be higher than the room temperature) is
within the limit specified for the unit.
• Make sure there is sufficient airflow around the unit.
• Make sure electrical circuits are not overloaded – consider the nameplate rating of all the connected
equipment, and make sure you have over current protection.
• At least one power supply module is installed.
• All power supply modules are properly installed.
• All power supply modules are switched to the OFF (left) position.
• The remote power source complies with the input power specifications in the section

• AC Power cables connect to the remote power source (if applicable).
• The fan tray is installed and cannot be removed by pulling on the fan tray handle.
• At least one RPM is installed.
• All line cards and RPMs are properly installed and secured.
• All chassis slots are filled. Blank panels and covers are installed in all empty slots.
• Make sure no objects are placed on top of the unit.
To supply power to the C150 system:
WARNING: Never operate the C150 System without a fan tray.
