Enabling Basic Mode

Using the Restore Button

12 - 2
Basic Mode is a limited operating mode that uses H.261 for video and G.711
for audio. It provides administrators with a workaround for interoperability
issues that cannot be solved using other methods. The Basic Mode setting stays
in effect until you change it.
Basic Mode disables many system features such as content sharing, far end
camera control, AES encryption, and advanced audio and video algorithms. Use
Basic Mode only when calling systems that fail to operate properly with these
advanced features.
To enable Basic Mode in the Polycom QDX 6000 system interface:
1. Go to System > Admin Settings > Network > Call Preference.
2. Select Basic Mode.
To enable Basic Mode using the Polycom QDX 6000 web interface:
1. On a computer, open a web browser.
2. In the browser address line, enter the system's IP address, for example,
http://10.11.12.13, to go to the Polycom QDX 6000 web interface.
3. Go to Admin Settings > Network > Call Preference.
4. Select Enable Basic Mode.
You can use the hardware restore button on the Polycom QDX 6000 system to
reset the system in this way:
Factory restore—Completely erases the system and restores it to:
Its original factory 4.0 software version and default configuration, or
The last 4.0 software version that was loaded to the system using 3.0 to 4.0
upgrade procedure.
