• Always hold t he unit with both hands when o perating. Keep afirm grip o nthe
handle.
Keep hands, face, and feet atadistance from all m oving parts. Do not touch
or trytostop t he tines w hile they a re rotating.
Do not touch t he engine ormuffler. These parts get e xtremely hot f rom
operation. They remain hot for a short time a fter turning off t he unit.
Do not o perate the engine faster than t he speed needed for t he job. D o not
run the engine athigh s peed when the unit i snot i nuse.
Always stop t he engine when w ork i sdelayed orwhen w alking from one
location toanother.
Ifstriking orbecomes entangled with aforeign object, stop t he engine
immediately and c heck for d amage. Do not o perate before repairing damage.
Do not o perate the unit w ith loose ordamaged parts.
Stop a nd switch the engine toofffor maintenance orrepair.
Use o nly o riginal equipment manufacturer replacement parts and accessories
for t his unit. These are available from aSears orother authorized service
dealer. The u se ofany unauthorized parts oraccessories could l ead t oserious
injury tothe user, ordamage tothe unit, and void t he warranty.
Keep unit clean ofvegetation and other materials that may b ecome lodged or
entangled inthe unit.
• To reduce fire hazard, keep the engine and muffler free f rom grass, leaves,
excessive grease orcarbon build u p.
After use
Clean the unit with household cleaner to remove any gum buildup. Oil the
tines with machine oil to prevent rust.
OTHER SAFETY WARNINGS
Never store a fueled unit inside a building where fumes may reach an open
flame or spark.
Allow the engine to cool before storing or transporting. Be sure to secure the
unit while transporting.
Store the unit in a dry area, locked up or up high to prevent unauthorized use
or damage. Keep out of the reach of children.
Never douse or squirt the unit with water or any other liquid. Keep handles dry,
clean and free from debris. Clean after each use. See the Cleaning and
