General Recommendations
1. Alwaysobservesafetyruleswhen performing any maintenance.
2. Thewarrantyon this snowthrowerdoesnot coveritemsthat have
beensubjectedto operatorabuseor negligence. T o receivefull
valuefromthe warranty,operatormust maintainthe snowthrower
as instructedin this manual.
3. Periodicallycheckall fastenersand hardwareto makesure these
are tight.

WARNING: Before servicing,repairing, l ubricating or
inspecting,disengageall controlsand stop engine.
Wait until all moving parts havecometo a complete
stop.Disconnect s parkplugwire and ground itagainst
the engineto prevent u nintendedstarting. A lways wear
safety glassesduringoperation or while performing
anyadjustmentsor repairs.
Replacing the Shave Plate
and Skid Shoes
Theshaveplateand skid shoes on the bottomof the snowthrowerare
subjectto wear.These shouldbe checkedperiodicallyand replaced
whennecessary
1. Toreplace, r emove two carriage boltsandnutssecuring eachskidshoe
tothe augerhousing. S eeFig.10
2. Reassemble n ewskidshoeswithhardware j ustremoved. Make surethe
skidshoesareadjusted tobe level.
3. Toremoveshave plate:Removebothskid shoesand hardware
includingcarriagebolts andnuts whichattachshaveplatetothe
snowthrowerhousing.Forlocation of shaveplate,see Figure10.
4. Reassemble newshaveplate,makingsureheadsof thecarriagebolts
aretothe insideof thehousing. R einstall skid shoes.Tighten securely.
Servicing
Augers
Theaugersare securedto the spiralshaftwith fourshearpins and
cotterpins. If you hit a foreignobject or icejam, the snowthroweris
designedso that the pinsmay shear.Referto Figure10.
If the augersdo notturn, checkif the pins havesheared.Replace,if
needed,with propershearpins. Referto item42 on page 19 for part
number.
IMPORTANT:NEVERreplacetheauger shearpins with standardpins
or fasteners.Anydamagetothe auger gearboxor othercomponents,
as a resultof doing so, will NOTbe coveredby yoursnowthrower's
warranty.
Lubrication

1. Lubricatepivot pointson the auger controland drivecontrolwith a
lightengine oil oncea season.
2. Lubricate theaugeridlerbracketwitha lightengineoil oncea season.

1. Beforeoperatingsnow thrower,checkthe oil level.
2. Changeengineoil afterfirst two hoursof operationand every 25
hoursthereafter.

3. Cleanspark plugand resetthe electrodegap to 0.030"at least
once a seasonor every 100hoursof operation;replaceevery 200
hoursof operation.
Check V-Belts
Followinstructionsbelowto checkconditionof drive beltsevery 50
hoursof operation.
1. Removethe plasticbeltcoveron the front of the engineby
removingthe self-tappingscrewand pressingthe plastictabs to
releasethe beltcover.
2. Visuallyinspectfor frayed,cracked,or excessively wornout belts.
Replace,if necessary,followinstructionsbelow.
Replacing Belts
NOTE:Therearetwo beltson thissnowthrower: a n augerbeltanddrive
belt.It isrecommended t hatbothbeltsbe replaced at thesametime.
1. Removethe spark plugwirefrom spark plug and groundit against
the engineto preventaccidentalstarting.
2. Draingasolinefrom the gas tank belowV2tankor run the machine
belowhalf a tank,or placea pieceof plasticsheetunderneaththe
gas cap to preventgasolineleakage.
