TOSTART ENGINE
Standing behindthe mower, s queeze the bladecontrol h andleagainstupper
handle.

Holdingthesetwo handles togetherfirmly,grasprecoilstarterhandleand
pull ropeslowlyuntil resistance isfelt, thenpull witha rapid,continuous, f ull
armstroke.SeeFigure 15.Keeping afirm griponthe startercordhandle, l et
the roperewindslowly.Repeat u ntil enginecranks. L etthe roperewindeach
time slowly.
Keep a firm grip on the starter cord handleto preventrapidretraction of
starter cord(kickback).Rapidretraction canpullhandand arm toward
engine faster than you can let go, and result in broken bones,fractures,
bruisesor sprains.
TOSTOP ENGINE
1.
Release b ladecontrol t o stopthe engineandblade.
Wait for the bladeto stop completelybefore performing anyworkon the
moweror to remove the grasscatcher.
UsingYourLawnMower
Besurelawnisclearof stones, s ticks, w ire,or otherobjectswhichcoulddamage
lawnmoweror engine.Such objectscouldbeaccidently thrownbythe mowerin
anydirectionandcause serious personal injuryto theoperatorandothers.

Once theengineisrunningandwhilecontinuingto holdthe bladecontrol
down,squeeze the drivecontrol a gainst t he upperhandleto propelmower.

Tochange speed,movespeed control t o the desiredspeed. S ee Figure16.
NOTE: W henselectingadrivespeed, u sethe first speed until youare
comfortable andfamiliarwith the operationof the mower.
