WARNING: Periodically
inspect
the Made spindJes for cracks or
damage, especially if you strike a
foreign object. Replace immedi-
ately if damaged.
Thebladesmay be removedas follows,
1, Removethe deck from beneaththe tractor,(referto
CuttingDeckRemoval o n page21) thengently flip
the deck overto exposeits underside,
2, Race a blockof wood betweenthe centerdeck hous-
ing baffle and the cuttingbladeto act asa stabilizer,
See Figure16,
3, Use a 15/16"wrenchto removethe hexflangenut
that securesthe bladeto thespindleassembly,See
Figure16,
4, Toproperlysharpenthe cutting blades,removeequal
amountsof metalfrom bothends of the bladesalong
the cuttingedges, parallelto the trailingedge,at a
25° to 30° angle,
I[_tPORTANT: If the cuttingedgeof the blade hasalready
been sharpenedto within 1 5/8" fromthe edge,or if any
metalseparationis present,replacethe bladeswith new
ones, See Figure17,
It is importantthat eachcuttingblade edge be ground
equallyto maintainproper bladebalance,
• A poorlybalancedbladewill causeexcessive
vibrationand maycausedamageto thetractorand
result in personalinjury,The bladecan be testedby
balancingit on a roundshaftscrewdriver, G rind metal
from the heavysideuntil it balancesevenly,
• Whenreplacingthe blade,be sureto installthe blade
with the sideof the blade marked"Bottom" (or with
a part numberstampedin it) facingthe groundwhen
the moweris in the operatingposition,
IMPORTANT: U se a torquewrenchto tightenthe blade
spindlehexflangenutto between70 foot-poundsand 90
foot-pounds,
Fuses
A fuse is installedin yourtractor'swiringharnessto
protectthe tractor'selectricalsystemfrom damage
causedby excessiveamperage,

If the electricalsystemdoes notfunction,or your
tractor'senginewill notcrank,first checkto be certain
that the fuse has not blown,
• It can eitherbe foundunderthe hoodmountedbehind
the top of the dashpanelon the supportbar,or under
the seat mountedto the insideof the tractorframe
next to the batterytray,
Always use a fuse with the same
amperage capacity for replace-
meat.
