Mount the Bar
Prepare the chain by checking the proper
direction. Without following the i llustration it
is easy to place the c hain on the s aw in the
wrong direction. Usethe illustration ofthe
chain todetermine the proper direction.

6. Place thechain o ver and behind the
clutch, fitting the drive links inthe clutch
drum sprocket.

teeth i nthe sprocket inthe nose ofthe
guide bar.
8. Fit c hain drive links i ntobar groove.
9. Pull the bar f orward untii the chain i s
snug inthe g roove ofthe b ar. E nsure all
drive links a re inthe bar groove.
10. Hoid g uide bar a gainst the saw frame
and install the chain brake.
11. Replace the chain brake nuts and t ighten
finger tight. Once the chain is tensioned
you will need to tighten chain brake nuts.
CHAIN TENSION (Including units w ith
chain already installed)
NOTE: When a djusting chain t ension,
make sure t he chah_ brake nuts a re finger
tight only. Attempting totension the chain
when t he chain b rake nuts a re tight can
cause damage.
Checking the tension:
Use the screwdriver end of the chain adjust-
ment tool (bar tool) to move the chain around
the bar. If the chain does not rotate, it is too
tight, if too loose, the chain will sag below the
bar.

Adjusting the tension:
Chah_ tension is very important. Chain
stretches during use. This is especially true
during the first few times you use your saw.
Always check chain tension each time you
use and refuel your saw.
An adjusting screw (located on the guide bar)
is used to adjust the tension of the chain (see
illustration).
1. Turn adjusting screw clockwise until
chain solidly contacts bottom of guide
bar rail.

2. Using the screwdriver end of the bar tool,
roll chain around guide bar to ensure all
links are in bar groove.
3. Lift up tip of guide bar to check for sag.
Release tip of guide bar. then turn adjust-
ing screw until sag does not exist.
4. Tighten bar clamp nuts securely with the
bar tool.

5. Use the screwdriver end of the bar tool to
move chain around guide bar.
6. if chain does not rotate, it is too tight.
Slightly toosen bar clamp nuts and toos-
en chain by turning the adjusting screw.
Retighten bar clamp nuts.
7. if chain is too loose, it will sag below the
guide bar. DO NOT operate the saw if the
chain is loose.

If the saw is operated
with a loose chain, the chain could jump off
the guide bar and result in serious injury.
