Notes about programmedrecording
You cannot
use the VCR when the programmed
recording
light
(_)
is lit. If you want to use the VCR before programmed
record-
ing begins, press the POWER
button
on the remote
once. This
turns
the programmed
recording
light off and the VCR on.
If you use the POWER
button
on the front panel for this purpose,
you will have to press it twice, l:'ressing
it once _;urns off the
programmed
recording
light; pressing
it a second time turns
the
VCR on.
When you are finished
using
the VCR, turn
the VCR power off
again,
either
with the POWER
button
on the remote
or the
POWER
button
on the f_ont panel. Make sure the programmed
recording
light is back on.
After a program
has been recorded,
the VCR memory
is cleared
(unless
you have scheduled
the VCR to record the program
every
day or every weekl.
If there is already
a program
in the VCR's memory,
you will see
the "recap" screen when you bring up the rnenu_ for programming
to record (unless
you are, programming
with the QUICK PRO-
GRAM/VCR
Plus+ button).
If the VCR's memory
is full, you must
erase a program
before you can enter a new one,
If a tape runs out during
programmed
recording,
the VCR ejects
the tape and the programmed
recording
light (El) and the tape
status
symbol (,IY_:II_) will flash. Load a new tape and press the
REC button.
The VCR will resume
recording.
Dc_not overlap the
recording
times you program.
Remember
that when your VCR is off, it may also be in stand-by
for programmed
recording.
Also remember
that
the VCR, when
programmed,
will record over the next section
oJ' tape. So, to ,avoid
recording
over tapes
you want tc save, remember
that the VCR
automatically
shuts
off during
OTR recording
and "rewind
& off."
Your VCR will not record over a tape that has the erasure
preven-
tion tab removed
(see "Preventing
accidental
er_.sure"). All rental
movies have this tab removed,
so they are safe f!:om being acci-
dentally
erased.
autospeedprogramming
Use auto speed programming
if you want
to record as much of the
program
as possible
in standard
play (SP) speed, but you want
the VCR to automatically
switch
to extended
ph_y (EP) if there is
not enough
tape left.
Auto speed programming
is only available
in the-_first program-
ming slot. In this first slot, the recording
speed is automatically
