The alternator tester f unctions thesame

tionofthismanual fordetails) withafew
differences.
TESTING S EQUENCE
There a re three basic s teps r equired touse
the71225 a sanalternator tester.
1.Connect thecharger battery c lamps
tothebattery o rcharging system. Be
sure tofollow alloftheprecautions
listed under "OPERATING
INSTRUC-
TIONS".
2.Connect thecharger power cord toa
120V AC2-prong wall o utlet. Again,
besure tofollow alloftheprecautions
listed under "OPERATING
INSTRUC-
TIONS".
3.Start t hevehicle a ndturn onthe
vehicle's headlights. Read t hevoltage
onthedigital display orpress t he
DISPLAY MODE button t osetthe
tester t oALTERNATOR

TESTER S TATUS LEDs
When t he 71225 i soperating asanalterna-
tortester, thestatus L EDs light u nder the
following conditions.
• The CHARGED
(green) LED will l ight
iftheoutput ofthecharging system is
atthenormally desired l evel.
• The CHARGING
(yellow) LED does
notlight i nthealternator test m ode.
• The CHECK ( red) L ED lights i fthe
voltage i smuch higher orlower t han
normally desired.
• When thetester d isplay m ode isset
toVOLTAGE,
theCHARGED
and
CHARGING
LEDs w on't l ight ( itcould
betesting a battery o ranalternator).
