8. Press the ink cartridge clamp down until it locks in place.
9. Press the Alt button again. The printer moves the print
heads back to their home (far right) position and charges
ink in the system.

Caution:
The Pause light continues to flash while the printer
performs the ink charging operation. Never turn off the
printer while the Pause light is flashing. Doing so
can result in incomplete charging of ink.
Note:
Even if you do not press the Alt button, the printer moves the
print heads back to their home position about 60 seconds after you
replace the cartridge.
10. When the ink charging procedure is finished, close the
printer cover.
11. Press the Pause button to resume printing.
