Scope
The information contained in this manual applies to the hp rp8400 server series.
This guide is divided into the following chapters:

Chapter 1, "Introduction"—Describes the responsibilities of the customer and the HP Installation
Specialist prior to and during installation.

Chapter 2, "Safety Considerations"—Lists the safety considerations for installing a new system or
upgrading an existing system.
•
Chapter 3, "Unpacking"—Discusses how to inspect equipment, unpack cabinets and accessories, and
check inventory.
•
Chapter 4, "AC Power"—Discusses procedures to connect AC power to the system and to power up the
system.
•
Chapter 5, "System Installation"—Provides information regarding hp rp8400 server series power inputs,
setting up the CE Tool and configuring the MP.
•
Chapter 6, "Installation cleanup"—Discusses procedures to complete the cosmetic portion of the
installation.
•
Chapter 7, "Returning equipment"—Discusses procedures to follow if equipment must be returned to
Hewlett-Packard.
•
Appendix A, "Installation checklist"—Provides a checklist to use during and after installation to ensure
that all required tasks have been performed.

Appendix B, "Accessing the MP Using a Modem"—Provides the procedure used to connect to the MP
remotely.
