Starter
Determinethat yourhome'swiringis a three-wiregroundedsystem.
Ask a licensedelectricianif youare not certain.
If you havea groundedthree-prongreceptacle, p roceedas follows:
1.
Plugtheextension cordintotheoutletlocated on theengine's
surface. P lugtheotherend ofextension cordintoa three-prong
120-volt, grounded, A Coutletin a well-ventilated a reaSee Figure11.

Pushthe chokeleverto the CHOKEI"#1 position.

If the engine is warm,placethe choke in the RUN_ I position
instead ofCHOKEIII.
4.
Pushthe primerthree (3) times, makingsureto coverthe vent
hole whenpushing.
5.
If the engine is warm,pushtheprimerbuttononly once.
6.
Pushstarterbuttonto start engine.
7.
Oncethe enginestarts,releasestarterbutton.
8.
Allowthe engineto warmup severalminutes,adjustingchoke

Whendisconnecting theextensioncord, alwaysunplugthe end
at the three-prongwalloutlet beforeunpluggingthe oppositeend
fromthe snow thrower.
Recoil

Pushthe chokeleverto the CHOKEIll
position.

Pushthe primerthree(3) times,makingsureto coverthe vent
hole when pushing.
4.
If the engineis warm,pushthe primerbuttononlyonce.
5.
Graspthe recoilstarterhandleand slowlypull the rope out. At
the pointwhereit becomesslightlyharderto pull the rope,slowly
allowthe rope to recoil.
6.
Pullthe starterhandlewith a firm,rapid stroke.Do not release
the handleand allowit to snapback. Keepa firm holdon the
starterhandleand allow it to slowlyrecoil.
7.
Allowthe engineto warm up severalminutes,adjustingchoke

STOPPING
THE ENGINE
1.
Runtheengine fora few minutesbeforestoppingto help dry off
any moistureon the engine.
2.
To stopthe engine removethe keyand storeit in a safe place.
3.
Wipeall the snowand moistureawayfrom the enginecontrols
area.
Muffler,engineand surroundingareasbecomehotand can causea
burn. Be carefuland do not touchwhenthe_are hot.
ENGAGING
THE AUGER
Engagethe augerby squeezingtheauger controlagainstthe upper
handle.Releasethe controlto stop the auger.
ENGAGING
THE DRIVE
Lift up slightlyon the handleto allowthe rubber paddieson the auger
to contactthe pavement a nd propelthe snowthrowerforward.Pushing
downwardon the handlewill raisethe augeroff the groundand stop
the forwardmotion.
NOTE: Excessiveupwardpressureon the handlewill result in
prematurewearto the rubberauger paddies,which willnot be covered
by the warranty.
CLEARING
A CLOGGED
DISCHARGE
CHUTE
Handcontactwith the rotatingimpeller i nside the dischargechute
is the mostcommoncauseof injury associatedwith snowthrowers.
Neveruse yourhand to cleanout thedischargechute.
Toclear thechute:
1.
SHUTTHE ENGINEOFF!
2.
Wait 10secondsto be surethe impeller b ladeshavestopped
rotating.
3.
Alwaysusea clean-outtool or stick,not yourhands.
