whenpushing.Ifengineiswarm,pushprimeronlyonce. A lways covervent

Push starterbuttonto startengine.Once the enginestarts,immediately
release starterbutton.Electric starterisequipped with thermaloverload
protection; s ystemwill temporarilyshut-down to allowstarterto coolif
electricstarterbecomes o verloaded.

Asthe enginewarms, s lowlyrotatethe choke controlto RUN position.Ifthe
enginefalters,restartengineandrunwith choke at half-choke positionfor a
shortperiodof time,andthenslowlyrotatethe choke into RUN position.
Afterengineisrunning,disconnect p owercordfrom electricstarter.When
disconnecting, alwaysunplugthe endat the wall outletbeforeunplugging
the opposite endfrom the engine.
Recoil Starter
Donot pull the starter handlewhilethe engine running.

Pushprimerthree(3)times,makingsureto covervent holewhenpushing.
If engineiswarm,pushprimeronlyonce. A lwayscoverventholewhen
pushing.Cool w eathermayrequire primingto be repeated.
4.
Pullgentlyonthe starterhandleuntil it beginsto resist, t hen pullquickly
andforcefullyto overcome t he compression. Donot release the handle and
allowit to snapback.Return ropeSLOWLY to originalposition. I f required,
repeat t hisstep.
5.
Asthe enginewarms, s lowlyrotatethe choke controlto RUN position.Ifthe
enginefalters,restartengineandrunwith choke at half-choke positionfor a
shortperiodof time,andthenslowlyrotatethe choke into RUN position.
Toavoid unsupervisedengineoperation, never leavethe machine
unattended with the engine running. Turnthe engine off after useand
removekey.
Stopping TheEngine
Afteryouhavefinishedsnow-throwing, r unenginefor afewminutesbefore
stoppingto helpdry offany moisture on the engine.

Movethrottle control t o OFF position.
2.
Remove t he key.Removing t he keywill reduce the possibility of
unauthorized startingof the enginewhileequipmentisnot inuse.Keep the
keyina safeplace.The enginecannotstartwithout the key.
3.
Wipeanymoisture awayfrom the controls on the engine.
ToEngageDrive
1.
With the throttlecontrolinthe Fast ( rabbit)_ _1 position,moveshift lever
into oneof the sixforward(F)positions or two reverse (R)positions. S elect a
speed appropriate for thesnowconditions anda pace you'recomfortable
with.
NOTE: W henselectinga Drive Speed, u setheslowerspeeds untilyouare
comfortable andfamiliarwith theoperationof the snowthrower.
2.
Squeeze the drivecontrol a gainstthe handle andthe snowthrowerwill
move.Release i t anddrivemotionwill stop.
NOTE: NEVER reposition theshift lever(change speeds or directionof travel)
without first releasing the drivecontrol a ndbringingthesnowthrowerto a
completestop.Doingsowill resultin premature wearto the snowthrower'sdrive
system.
ToEngageAuger
Toengage theaugerandstartthrowingsnow,squeeze the augercontrol
againstthe left handle.Release t o stopthe auger.
ReplacingShearPins
Each augerbladeissecured to the spiralshaftwith ashearpinandbow-tieclip.If
anaugerbladestrikes a foreignobjector icejam, the pinwill shear o ff to prevent
damage to the blade.Ifan augerbladedoesnot turn, check to seeif its pinhas
sheared off. SeeFigure 18.
NEVER replacethe augershear pinswith anything otherthan Sears SKU#
88389/0EM Part No.738-04124A replacementshearpins.Any damageto
the augergearboxor other componentsasa result of failing to do sowill
NOT be coveredbyyour snowthrower's warranty.
Alwaysturn off the snowthrower's engine and remove the keypriorto
replacing shearpins.
