You can use the digital zoom to zoom up to approximately 16x maximum, and
capture subjects that are too far away for the optical zoom to enlarge.
However, depending on the recording pixel setting (p. 61 ) and zoom factor,
the images may appear coarse (the zoom factor will appear in blue).
Zoom Factor
Move the zoom lever toward E_-].
Hold the lever until zooming stops.
Zooming stops at the largest possible
zoom factor without image deterioration.
The zoom factor will appear on the screen
when you release the zoom lever.

The digital zoom will zoom in even further
on the subject.
To turn off the digital zoom, press the MENU button to choose [Digital Zoom] from
the I_ tab, then choose [Off].
