Zooming In More Closely on Subjects
(Digital Zoom)
You can use the digital zoom to zoom up to approximately 140x maximum,
and capture subjects that are too far away for the optical zoom to enlarge.
Zoom Factor
Turning off the digital zoom
To turn off the digital zoom, press the n button to choose [Digital Zoom] in
the 4 tab, then choose [Off].
The focal lengths when using the optical zoom and digital zoom together
are as follows (all focal lengths are 35mm film equivalent):
24 – 3360 mm (24 – 840 mm when using the optical zoom alone)
Depending on the recording pixel setting (p. 56) and zoom factor, the
images may appear coarse (the zoom factor will appear in blue).

Move the zoom lever toward i.
Hold the lever until zooming stops.
Zooming stops at the largest possible
zoom factor without image deterioration.
The zoom factor will appear on the screen
when you release the zoom lever.
Move the zoom lever toward i
again.
The digital zoom will zoom in even further
on the subject.
