This topic is available in English only
windows NT certification
Certification of Tape Devices with Windows NT means that the Tape Device has
been tested using Microsoft's certification test suite, and is supported by Microsoft
for use with NTBackup.
Although a tape drive may not currently be marked as certified by Microsoft with
its Tape Device drivers and NTBackup, it does not mean that the tape device
cannot be used with NTBackup or ISV Software. The Microsoft tape drivers will
support the devices specified in the answer to the question
drivers I am using at the moment, and what drivers do I need for running tape
backups?".
Support for DAT24 on Windows NT 3.51 can be achieved using the
driver supplied on the HP Surestore CD-ROM. This driver is not certified, but has
been tested in-house by HP.
During Hewlett-Packard's in-house compatibility testing no problems were found
using HP SuresStore DAT and DLT tape drives with NTBackup. Hewlett-Packard
is actively working to ensure that all HP SureStore DAT and DLT tape drives are
certified by Microsoft.
Note - Ultrium high performance tape drives: As a general rule, native backup
applications (such as NTBackup and tar) do not provide the required data
streaming rate to get the full performance of your Ultrium drive. We recommend
using a backup application, which provides better memory management as well
as other useful features, such as TapeAlert. HP, Computer Associates, Veritas,
Legato and Yosemite all provide suitable products that have been tested with your
Ultrium drives. For the latest list of backup packages that support your Ultrium
drives, please contact your tape drive or library manufacturer.
The current Microsoft Windows NT Tape Device driver certification status is given
in the table below.

Notes:
1. All drivers are available on the relevant HP Surestore CD-ROM.
ISV backup software
ISV Backup Software does not tend to use the Microsoft Tape Device drivers, but
instead use their own tape drivers. Hewlett-Packard has an ongoing Compatibility
testing program to ensure that HP Surestore Tape Drives work with a wide range
of HP and 3rd party servers, Operating Systems, SCSI HBAs, and ISV Backup
Software.
For a full list of compatible devices and software, consult
http://www.hp.com/go/connect.
supported devices lists
IHV's (SCSI HBA vendors) and ISV's (backup software vendors) maintain their
own supported devices lists. Hewlett-Packard is actively working with major IHV's
and ISV's to ensure that HP Surestore Tape Drives are included in their
compatibility testing and are on their supported devices lists.
