Live Trace and Live Paint
Live Trace and Live Paint can be used together to
convert bitmap imagery, such as a scanned pencil
drawing, to outlined and filled vector imagery.
Click the Live Trace button in the Control panel
to trace bitmap artwork you open or place into
Illustrator. You can control the level of detail
and the fill of the tracing. If you need to change
the original bitmap file, choose Edit Original
and return to Photoshop. Any changes you make
will update automatically in Illustrator once you
save the file.
Live Paint lets you intuitively create colored
drawings. Shapes are defined as regions
and edges, and can be colored quickly with
tools like the Live Paint bucket.

Import the artwork you
would like to trace and color. and adjust the settings.
When you are satisfied with
your results, click Live Paint
in the Control panel to color
your drawing, or Expand to
create vector paths.
