Checkthe auger drivebeltadjustment. Withthe auger clutchlever
in the disengagedposition,thetop surfaceof the newbelt shouldbe
evenwith theoutsidediameterof the pulley.
Toadjust,disconnectferrulefrom brakebracketassembly.Thread
ferrulein (towardsidler) to increasetensionon belt, or out to decrease
belttension.
NOTE:Thebrakepuck mustalwaysbe firmly seatedin the pulley
groovewhenaugercontrol is disengaged.
IMPORTANT:Repeatthe "AugerDriveControlTest"from the As-
semblysectionbeforeoperatingsnow thrower.
Drive Belt Replacement
If notalreadydone,removethe augerdrivebelt from thefront pulleyof
theengine doublepulley.Referto "AugerBeltReplacement" instruc-
tions inthe previoussub-section.
1. a. Pull the idlerpulleyawayfrom the backsideof the drivebeltto
relievethetension.See Figure33.
b. Slip the drivebelt off the idlerpulley. Carefullyreleasethe idler
pulley.
2. Roll thedrive beltoff the lowerdrive pulley.
3. Removethe beltfrom the enginepulley.
4. Installthe newbelt on the pulleysinthe reverseorderand
re-tensionwiththe idlerpulley.
5. Reassemble by performing the previousstepsinthe opposite
order and mannerof removal.

CHANGING FRICTION WHEEL
The rubberon the frictionwheelis subjectto wearand shouldbe
checkedperiodically.Replacethe frictionwheelif any signsof wearor
crackingare found.
1. Runthe unit'sfuel tank dry beforeperformingStep2. Do not
attemptto pourfuel from the engine.
2. Tipthe snowthrowerup and forward,so that it restson the
housing.
3. Removescrewsfrom theframe coverunderneaththe snow
thrower(referto Figure34). Removethe rightwheelfrom the
axle.

the frictionwheelassemblyand the rightside of the frame.The
spaceron the left sideof the hexshaftwill fall and the sprocket
shouldremainhanginglose in the chain.
6. Lift the frictionwheelassemblyout betweenthe axleshaft and
the driveshaftassemblies.
