The power indicator next to the button lights up. After a few
seconds, the computer counts the amount of memory, and then
performs a diagnostic self test. This is a series of checks the
computer completes each time you turn it on to make sure
everything is working correctly.
If necessary, use the controls on your monitor to adjust the
brightness and contrast until characters on the screen are clear
and at a comfortable level of intensity. If your monitor has
horizontal and vertical hold controls, you may need to use
them to stabilize the display.
Note
If you or your dealer has made a major change to your
system, such as adding a disk drive, you may need to wait a
few minutes for your computer to complete power-on
diagnostics the first time you turn it on.
When the system has successfully completed its self test, you
see the following prompt:
