Removing Paper Jams

Paper Feeder
If paper jams inside the feeder, the Paper jam Cassette 2 (3 or 4)
message appears on the printer's message display. Clear the jammed paper
by following the procedure below. After reclosing the feeder's paper cassette,
open and close the printer's top cover. (It is unnecessary to open and close the
top cover when installing the Color printers for A4/Letter size.) Then the
printer automatically warms up, goes on-line, and continues printing.
Depending on the part at which the jam occurred, the printer may or may not
print the jammed page.
In Case of a Paper Jam when Using Two or Three Paper
Feeders
Up to three paper feeders can be used one on top of the other. If paper gets
jammed while being fed from the lower feeder, check also whether there is
paper remaining inside the upper feeder.
Duplexer
In the event of a paper jam, the Paper jam Duplexer message appears on
the printer's message display.
Clear the jammed paper by following the procedure below.

Open the rear cover of the duplexer and remove the jammed paper.

Pull out the duplex drawer.

Remove the jammed paper.

Close the rear cover and return the duplex drawer to its original
position.

Open and close the printer's top cover. The printer automatically warms
up, goes on-line, and continues printing.
Sorter
If the paper jams in the sorter, the Paper jam Option Stacker message
appears on the printer's message display, and the printer is paused.
Clear the jammed paper by following the procedure below.

Open the rear cover of the option sorter.

Remove the jammed paper. If both ends of the paper are inside the
sorter, turn the paper feed gear in the direction of the arrows. The paper
can then be removed easily.

Close the rear cover of the option stacker.

Open and close the printer's top cover. The printer automatically warms
up, goes on-line, and continues printing.
