Mechanical problems

Problem

(1) No paper feed.

(2) Skewed paper feed.

(3) Multiple sheets of
paper are fed at one
time.

(4) Paper jams.

(5) Abnormal noise is
heard

Causes/check procedures
Check if the surfaces of the following rollers
are dirty with paper powder:
Pickup roller, Paper feed roller
Check if the pickup roller and paper feed roller
are deformed.
Defective installation position of drive unit.
Defective paper feed motor.
Check if the paper is curled.
Check if the paper is excessively curled.
Deformed guides along the paper conveying
path.
Check if the contact between the pickup roller,
paper feed roller and retard roller is correct.
Check if the pulleys, rollers and gears operate
smoothly.
Check if the drive unit is installed correctly.
Corrective measures
Clean with isopropyl alcohol.
Check visually and replace any deformed
rollers.
Check the installation position of drive unit.
Replace the drive unit. See page P.1-4-4.
Change the paper.
Change the paper.
Check visually and replace any deformed
guides.
Check visually and remedy if necessary.
Replace the pressure spring if it is
deformed.
Grease the bearings and gears.
Correct.
