Troubleshooting

When the camera does not operate properly, check the following items besides the
warning messages displayed on screen (
Problem
The power cannot
be turned ON.
The batteries run
out quickly.
No photograph is
taken when the
shutter button is
taken.
The flash cannot
be used.
The played-back
image is too dark
even though the
flash fired.
The played-back
image is blurred.

Cause
The batteries have been
exhausted.
The AC adapter plug has
been disconnected from a
wall outlet.
The batteries in incorrectly
have been loaded.
You are using the camera
in extremely cold
conditions.
The battery terminals are
dirty.
The batteries have
reached the effective life.
No SD card has been
inserted.
There is not enough
space in the SD card.
The SD card has been
write-protected.
The SD card has not been
formatted.
The SD card has been
damaged.
Auto Power OFF is functioning.
The flash is closed.
Suppressed Flash has
been selected.
You pressed the shutter
button while the flash was
charging.
The subject is too far
away.
The lens is not clean.
The image is out of focus.
The image has been shot
in a unsteady hold state.

Remedy
Replace with new batteries.
Plug the adapter into the wall outlet.
Load the batteries in the correct direction.
Put the batteries in your pocket or another
warm place to warm it, then load it into the
camera just before taking a photograph.
Wipe the battery terminals with a clean, dry
cloth.
Replace with new batteries.
Insert the SD card.
Insert a new SD card.
Erase saved images to increase free space.
Cancel the write-protection.
Replace with a new SD card.
Format the SD card.
Insert a new SD card.
Turn the power ON.
Press the flash open button to open the flash.
Select another flash type.
Wait until charging is completed before
pressing the shutter button.
Move closer to the subject.
Clean the lens.
Change the focus setting to match the
distance up to the subject.
Take photographs using a tripod to prevent
unsteady hold.
