Carefully read p. 43 (MAINTENANCE).
Check the conditions of the air cleaner and
clean it monthly or every 4000 km (2500
mi), depending on the conditions in which
the vehicle is used.
If the vehicle is used on dusty or wet roads,
the cleaning operations and any replace-
ment should be carried out more frequently.
Before the cleaning operation, it is neces-
sary to remove the air cleaner from the ve-
hicle.
REMOVAL

Position the vehicle on the centre stand
on firm and level ground.

Unscrew and remove the two screws (1).
N
Unscrew and remove the screw (2) to-
gether with the washer.
N
Move the rear brake pipe (3) sidewards.
N
Move the rear brake cable (3) side-
wards.
N
Withdraw the whole filter (4) by pulling it
downwards.
CLEANING THE AIR FILTER

Separate the grid (5) from the support
(6).
N
Remove the filtering element (7).
WARNING
Do not use petrol or inflammable sol-
vents to wash the air cleaner, in order to
avoid fires or explosions.

To clean the filtering element use clean,
non-inflammable solvents or solvents
with high volatility point, then let it dry
thoroughly.
N
Apply a filter oil on the whole surface of
the filtering element, then squeeze it to
eliminate the oil in excess.
NOTE
The filter must be well impregnat-
ed, though not dripping.
