CHECKING THE STEERING

Carefully read p. 32 (MAINTENANCE).
To check the steering, it is necessary to:
Raise the front wheel, using a support or
a suitable stand.
Shake the fork in the travelling direction
(Fig. 42).
If you notice any slack:
Loosen the two screws (3 - Fig. 43).
Loosen the screw (1 - Fig. 43).
Adjust the metal ring (2 - Fig. 43) by
means of the apposite spanner, taking
up the slack with small rotations.

Do not tighten the adjusting ring
excessively, since the balls
would be damaged.
Check the steering repeatedly, until the
inconvenience has been eliminated.
Tighten the screw (1 - Fig. 43) thorough-
ly.
Tighten the two screws (3 - Fig. 43).

At the end of this operation,
make sure that the handlebars
rotate smoothly, to avoid any
damage to the balls and not to reduce
the manoeuvrability of the vehicle.

ADJUSTING THE ACCELERATOR
CONTROL (Fig. 44)
The accelerator control must have a slack
to ensure the closing of the throttle valve
and of the lubrication pump.
To get this slack, act on the apposite ad-
juster (1) positioned at the beginning of the
accelerator control cable, after withdrawing
the protection element (2).

Carry out these operations only
after making sure that the cables
of the carburettors and of the lu-
brication pump are correctly adjusted.
