Troubleshooting

(Preparatory operations
Possible cause
The camera does not turn on or function buttons do not respond.
The power is off.
The battery is
exhausted.
The battery is
temporarily unable to
function because of the
cold.
The camera is in the
sleep mode.
The camera is connected
to a computer.
(Shooting
Possible cause
No picture is taken when the shutter button is pressed.
The battery is
exhausted.
The camera is in the
playback mode.
The flash has not
finished charging.
The card is full.
The battery ran out of power
during shooting or while the
images were being written
to the card. (Monitor turns
off or the battery check
indicator blinks.)
The memory gauge is
full.
There is a problem with
the card.
Corrective action
Press the POWER switch to turn the camera
on.
Change the battery.
Warm the battery by putting it in your pocket
for a while.
Operate the camera (press the shutter button
or zoom lever).
The camera will not operate while it is
connected to a computer.
Corrective action
Change the battery.
Set the mode dial to a mode other than q.
Remove your finger from the shutter button,
and wait until the orange lamp and # (flash
charge) indication stop blinking before taking
the picture.
Erase unwanted pictures or insert a new
card. Before erasing, download important
images to a computer.
Change the battery. (Wait until the orange
lamp beside the viewfinder stops blinking.)
Wait until there is space in the memory
gauge.
