  • Page 13: Interpreting The Vertical Display

The Phased Array Transducer typically steers an acoustic beam over a 90 degree segment. The SE-200 steers the beam to different positions, transmits a pulse of energy, then waits a defined period of time (depending on the range selected) and listens for any return echoes.

Connecting Displays The diagrams below show several different possible display configurations. Note that VGA, video and Interphase VGA displays with integral keypads can all be connected at the same time. In general, common video and VGA cables and splitters can be used when fitting multiple stations, however some loss of video or VGA signal can occur with long runs and/or multiple displays.

Transducer(s) The SE-200 Sonar Engine’s design includes the hardware and software to work with several different types of thru- hull and transom mounted phased array transducers. When selecting the transducer type and hull location for the transducer(s) keep in mind the primary rule for Transom Mounted Transducer transducer operation.
  • Page 26: Thru-Hull

Thru-Hull Considerations Suggested Thru-Hull Thru-hull transducers are for boats that exceed 40MPH Transducer Locations and /or have inboard motors. Transducer placement depends on boat size, speed, hull configuration and sonar application. On displacement hulls, the transducer is generally located between 1/3 and 1/2 aft of where the bow meets the water line.

The effect increases as the boat’s speed rises. contains two phased arrays, one used to scan vertically and the Boats with trim tabs can usually trim this out, but boats other horizontally.

  • Page 29: Transom Mount

Transom Mount Considerations Transom mounted transducers are intended for low Transom Mount Bracket in Released Position speed boats with external props. Boats with inboard motors and boats that regularly exceed 35MPH can not use transom mounted transducers. This is because with nboard motors The prop is located in front of the transom transducers and create aeration and excess turbulence.

The deadrise angle of the hull must be less than 10 degrees in order for the forward Cables horizontal scan to sweep beneath the hull. Alternately, the transducer can be mounted at or below the lowest point on the hull.
