8.5 Simulation
A simulated value (from a preset selection, or a value set by customer) can be set to test the
functioning of the mA connections during commissioning or maintenance of the device. The
range is 3.55 mA to 22.8 mA.

Simulated current output
The simulated current output value influences output to the control system.
In general, to simulate current output:
1. Run the "Loop test wizard" from the menu "Maintenance and diagnostics > Loop test" on the
device (or from the Device menu in SIMATIC PDM).
– Select a preset mA value, or enter a custom value. (Custom value can be entered by

3. When you are ready to end the simulation, stop the loop test by exiting the wizard.
The device returns to the actual output value.
