Operating Requirements
The following
describes
the
operations
that
occur
after
power
is
applied and
until the minimum
operating
requirements
are
met:
Power-On Self-Test (POST)
The
POST
is
initiated automatically
each
time
the
system
power
is
switched
on. The
POST
is a
series
of
system
checks
and
initialization.
The
POST
checks
only
those
areas
that permit
the
system
to
be
operational enough
to
boot the
operating system.
After a
successful POST,
control
is
then
given
to
the
operating
system.
Memory Requirements and Limitations
The
computer
has
three DIMM card
sockets
on
the
memory board.
One
or
two sockets
are occupied
by
16MB
DIMM
cards
as
standard
configurations.
An
additional 8MB
or
I
6MB
DIMM
card can be
installed into
the
other
socket for
a
total
of
up
to
48MB
of
system
memory.
