RECEIVER DOES NOT OPERATE IN THE LOCK MODE. IN AM RECEPTION, THE TOUCH LOCK
MODE IS NOT OPERATIVE.
14. HEADPHONE JACK
Stereo headphones can be plugged into this jack for private listening or monitoring. For private listening, set the
SPEAKER switches to OFF. Headphone impedance should be between 8 and 2,000 ohms. Best results between
200 and 400 ohms.
15. FREQUENCY DISPLAY
This indicates the frequency which is tuned. With FM reception, the letters "FM" appear on the left of the dis-
play and "MHz" on the right. With AM reception, "AM" appears on the left and "KHz" on the right. These
change according to the position of the FUNCTION selector switches; FM or AM. All displays go out when the
FUNCTION selector switch is in PHONO or AUX position.
16. SIGNAL STRENGTH INDICATOR
This indicator lights in sequence from left to right during the tuning of an AM or FM broadcast in accordance
with the strength of the signals being received. The optimum tuning point for AM is where the maximum num·
ber of indicators light. Also used for orientation of antennas.
17. CENTER TUNING INDICATOR
Indicates tuning for absolute center of FM signal ensuring minimum distortion and maximum stereo separation.
Not operative for AM. Optimum tuning is achieved when the round indicator in the center of the CENTER
TUNING indicators comes on. If the left or right triangular indicator comes on, the receiver is not properly
on station. In this case, tum the TUNING CONTROL in the direction pointed by the triangular indicator until
the center round indicator comes on. After optimum tuning is achieved and taking your fmgers away from the
TUNING CONTROL, and TOUCH LOCK tuning system goes into operation to ensure continuously accurate
tuning.
18. TOUCH LOCK INDICATOR LED
See No 13. TUNING CONTROL.
19. FM STEREO INDICATOR
Automatically lights up when FM station broadcasts in stereo mode. On marginally weak or distant stereo
station, if this indicator comes on and off frequently, set the MUTE/SERVO/MODE switch to OFF.
20. POWER METERS
These red LED meters allow you to read out the peak power level when speakers with a nominal impedance of
8 ohms are connected to the speaker terminals. For 4 ohm speakers multiply reading by 2. For 16 ohm speakers
divide indicated reading by 2.
