The
KX-WS0TH LCD
is driven by one IC (IC 1) and the
KX-W60TH
is
driven
by two IC's (IC
1,
IC2).
T
hese IC's,
located
on the
back of the
LCD
panel,
display cha racters by the fo llow
ing
process.
A
character
is
displayed
by seve
n common
signals (C1-C7 or C9-C 15) and five of
th
e 40 (KX
-WS0TH
) or
80
(KX-W60TH)
segment signals
as
shown in
Fig's.
1 and
2.
These
common
signals
and segment
signals
form
a matrix
that
is capable of displaying up to 15 (KX -W50
TH
)
or
23 (KX-W60TH) characters
as shown in Fig.1
or
2. Since IC1
contains the cha racte
r generator
ROM,
it
rece ives
an
8
bit character
code
through
the
data
bus
and
stores it
in
it's buffe
r
(80 charac
ter
maxim um)
. T
his info
rmation
is
sent to
the
common signal and
segme
nt signal driver
circuits. Since the
common
signa
ls are
drive
n
one at a
time,
the
segment signals
constantly
change
to
correspond
with
the
comm on signal th at
is be ing drive
n.
