Noterltmaybenecessary to both pushand pull
on the fiex ducting to route it through the
existing chimney. Two installers are recom-
mended. Thepersonon the roofshouid turn the
fiexducting s!ightiy to avoid mortar chinksand
misaligned tiles. Jheperson below should wear
leather gloves to avoid being cut. It rarely takes
much e.fofl to route the fiex ducting, unless
there are numerous offsets in the chimney, or
if there is excess mortar in the tile joints~
CAUTION: USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN
STRETCHIHG THE FLEXIBLE OUCTING
AROUND OFFSETS AND OBSTRUCTIONS TO
PREVENT KINKING AND PUHCTURING.
Step18.Temporarily securethefiexducttorhe
top of the chimney to avoid losing it down into
the existing chimney.
Note: Forgasinsertinstallations within Canada
or U.S. masonry instaiiations with an inferfer-
ing blade damper, two (2) flex duct runs must
be fed through the flue (one
3'
tube for the
exhaust gas to exit through and one ?tube for
the combustion air to enter through).

Step 20. For U.S. only, gas insert installations
using existing double wall chimney systemsor
masonry fireplaces without a blade damper
(Figure3), stretch the outer wail chimney flex
duct to its fullest eaen!. Determine where the
inserl will fit within the firebox and cut oft the
excessouterflexduct tothe appropriate length.
Recornpresstheouter fiexductto a length that
will not interfere with the insertion of the gas
insert {approximately 3' (76 mm)]. Attach the
flexible outerwall chimney adapterto the outer
ring of the vent adapter with a standard pipe
clamp (provided).
Step 19. Remove the rope and tape from the
bottom end of the flex duct@) and attach the
appropriate vent adaRter to the duct(s) with a
standard pipe clamp(s) (provided).
Position Gas Insert within the Firebox
Note: Before attempting to position the gas
insert within the fireboxensure that the flexibie
duct and the aitached vent adapter are pushed
up and out of the way of the insert
Step 21. Slide Insert into Firebox Opening
-
Carefully slide the gas insert into piace in the
firebox opening. At this time, check that the
insert is level and plumb with the fireplace
opening and positioned i n the middle of the
opening. Ensurethatthe bonom of the insert is
levei with the bottom front edge of the fireplace
front opening toallow for the proper position-
ing of the insert lower decorative louvres. if the
insert
is
unsteady
or
needs leveling, the unit
may be leveled by adjustingthefour (4) "ievei-
