How to Get Good Photos Out of
the Camera in 5 Minutes
This section goes through the steps to get your D90 set up as quickly as possible to
start taking good pictures. The other settings and options available will be described in
detail later in the book. In subsequent sections I'll also discuss why some settings are
better than others, as well as what settings to use in certain situations.
BASIC SETUP
If you've done everything listed in the previous Quick Start section (charged battery,
adjusted diopter, attached lens, inserted memory card), then there are just a few more
steps and you'll be ready to start taking pictures.
1. Turn the camera on.
2. Turn the dial on the top of the camera so that "Auto" (in green) is next to
the white line.
3. Hold down the
