Split Keyboard Mode
Let's move on and look at a more sophisticated application of the things you now know. The Split
Keyboard mode allows you to divide (or split the keyboard into two different sections — Upper and
Lower — and assign a different Tone to each! By doing this you can, for example, play chords using a
String sound while you solo using a Piano sound, If you use your imagination, anything is possible!
Let's use the example of the Strings/Piano split.
* This is a good place to begin as these Tones are automatically selected when you first enter the Split
Keyboard mode.
1.
First, press [Piano] (in the Easy Program Section) to be sure you begin from the Piano
mode.
2.
To enter the Split Keyboard mode, find the button labeled [Split]. Press it twice so the
Lower indicator lights.
If you now play the keyboard, you'll hear a String sound in the Lower section and the familiar Piano sound
in the Upper section. The keyboard will be split at the key shown below:
A A AA
"<—— Lower Tone ——*
|«—
— —
Upper Tone —->
Ar3
3.
To change this Split Point, press and hold the [Split] button until the Lower indicator
starts to flash, and then press a different key on the keyboard (within the range shown
below):
DAA:
«— —— Split Point Range
— >

ES
The note you press will become the new Split Point: notes above — and including — the new Split Point
will have the Piano sound; notes below the new Split Point will be assigned the String sound.
* Note that in the Split Keyboard mode, the pedal only affects the Upper Tone.
