OPERATION
Output Level Trim Adjustment
Normal outputlevel a djustment fortheAVR225 is
established usingthe testtone,asoutlined on pages
21 and22. In somecases, h owever, )tmaybe desir-
abletoadjust
the output levels
using program material
such asa _est disc,
oraselection
youare familiar
with.
Additionally,
the output level
for the subwoofer
can
only b eadjusted
using this procedure,
!o adjust t he outputlevelsusingprogram material, first
setthe reference volume forthe front-left a ndfront-
rightchannels u singthe VolumeControl_[_'J_.
Ifyouareusinga discwithtestsignals or anexternal
signalgenerator asthe source fromwhichto trimthe
outputlevels, you mayusethe EzSet f eature of the
remoteto guideyouto thereference SPLlevel. I o
usethe remote forthispurpose, pressandquickly
release theSPL Button _
to activate the sensor.
Whilethetesttoneis circulating, the Program/SPL
Indicator _
will change colorto indicate the level.
Adjustthe level a sshown on pages 21 and22 until
the LEDlights greenfor allchannels. Whenit is red
the levelistoo high;whenit is amber the levelis too
low.Press the SPL Button _
to turnthesensor a nd
indicator o ff.
Oncethe reference levelhasbeenset,pressthe
ChannelSelectButton ql]_lP]_rd andnotethat
F L L EV EL willappear i n the Main Information
Display[/_J.[0 changethe level, f i_st p ressthe Set
Button qi_}P'_"I, a ndthenusethe SelectorButtons
[] or the A/T Buttons qi_4i_) to raiseor lower
the level.DONOT usethe volume control,asthiswill
alterthe reference setting.
Oncethechangehasbeenmade, p ressthe Set
Button Ii_II
andthenpress the SelectorButtons
[] or the ,_/'v Buttons li_l[_ll
to select t he next
outputchannel location thatyouwishto adjust. I 0
adjustthesubwoofer l evel, p ressthe Selector

until

Display[] or on-screen display.
Press the Set Button qi_ P_i"l whenthe nameofthe
desired channel appears inthe Main Information
Display[] andon-screen display, andfollowthe
instructions shownearlier t o adjustthelevel.
Repeat t he procedure a sneeded untilall channels
requiring adiustmem havebeenset,Whenall adjust-
ments havebeenmadeandno furtheradiustments
aremade forfiveseconds, the AVR225 willreturnto
normal o peration.
Thechannel outputforanyinputmayalsobe adjusted
usingthe MI-OSDon-screen menusystem. F irst,set
the volume to a comfortable l istening levelusingthe
VolumeControl_'Zi_.

NOTES:
• Theoutputlevelsmaybe separately trimmed for
eachdigital a ndanalog surround mode.Ifyouwish
to havedifferent trimlevelsfora specific mode,
se}edtha modeandthenfollowthe instructions in
the s_eps s hown earlier.
• In Stereo-Digital (Surround Off)mode,onlythe
frentdeft, f ront-right andsubwoofer channels m ay
be trimmed. I t isnot possible to tr)mtheoutput
levelsinStereo-Dimd mode,since thatmode
bypasses t hedigitalcircuitry usedfor output-level
_rimming,
6-Channel Direct Input
The AVR225 isequipped for futureexpansion
through the useof optional, external adapters forfor-
matsthattheAVR225 maynot be capable of pro-
cessing. Whenanadapter i seonneded_othe
6-ChannelDirect Inputs_, youmayselect i t by
pressing the 6-Ch Direct InputSelector _,
the
6-Channel Direct i nputmayalsobe selected bypress-
i% the Input SourceSelectorButton []
on the
frontpanel u ntil6 C H D I R E C T appears inthe
Main InformationDisplay[] anda greenLED

Whenthe6-Channel Direct i nputis inuse,you may
not select a surround mode, a sthe external d ecoder
determines p rocessing. Inaddition, thereis no s)gnal
atthe recordoutputs whenthe 6-Channel Directinput
is inuse,
Memory Backup
Thisproduct i s equipped witha memory backup
system thatpreserves t he system configuration
information a ndtunerpresets if the unitis accidentally
unplugged o r subjected t o a power outage. T his
memory will lastforapproximately oneweek,after
whichtimeall information m ustbereentered.
