About This Tuner/CD Player
¢ This product complies with the EMC Directives (89/336/EEC,
92/31 /EEC) and CE Marking Directive (93/68/EEC).
The tuner frequencies on this Pioneer RDS tuner/CD player are
allocated for use in Western Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa
and Oceania. Use in other areas may result in improper reception.
The RDS function operates only in areas with FM stations
broadcasting RDS signals.
About This Manual
This tuner/CD player features a number of sophisticated functions
ensuring superior reception and operation. All are designed for the
easiest possible use, but many are not self-explanatory. This
operation manual is intended to help you benefit fully from their
potential and to maximize your listening enjoyment.
We recommend that you familiarize yourself with the functions and
their operation by reading through the manual before you begin
using the tuner/CD player. It is especially important that you read
and observe the "Precautions" on pages 6-7 and in other sections.
This product features a built-in digital signal processor (DSP). See
pages 94-107 for DSP operation.
Procedures for "Symbol Display Switching" and "Function
Switching" functions which are shared by the various sources, are
described in the "Tuner Operation" section.
This product is equipped with the SOUND SCAPE function which
permits you to play the supplied sound-effect CD or other sound-
effect CDs available on the market, on the built-in CD player as
background or fill-in sound while using the tuner, a multi-CD
player or auxiliary (AUX). For operation, please refer to the
"SOUND SCAPE operation" section on pages 108-119 of this
manual and the separate instruction manual for the CD software.
Resetting the Microprocessor
The microprocessor must be reset under the following conditions:
When using this tuner/CD player for the first time after installation.
When the machine fails to operate properly.
When strange (incorrect) messages appear on the display.
* To reset the microprocessor, remove the front panel as
described on pages 8-9 and press the Reset button on the inner
cover with a pen tip or other pointed instrument.
