CHAPTER ZERO
Power-Down
When you have finished using your computer, after performing some or all of the
procedures in this Manual, it will be necessary to power-down the system in an
orderly fashion. Part of the operating system resides in memory at all times, and
part of it is located on the system diskette. The exact proportions are determined
by the operations which are currently being performed. When you power-down
the system in the correct fashion, you insure that the contents of the system
diskette are updated to reflect the most recent changes in the system.
When you are in the command mode, with a">" printed at the left margin of the
system console, execute the following steps to shut down the system:
1.
Dismount the diskette(s) by typing:
>BYE§
2.
Remove the diskette( s).
WARNING: Always remove the diskette(s) before shutting off the
power. Failure to do so could result in data loss as the hardware
powers down.
3.
Shut off the power to your computer.
