8-47. The series number (such as 2844) is used to document minor electrical changes. As changes are made,
the series number is incremented. When replacement boards are ordered, you may receive a replacement with a
different series number. If there is a difference between the series number stamped on the board and the
schematic in this manual, a minor electrical difference exists. If the number on the printed circuit board is lower
than that on the schematic, refer to Section VII for backdating information. If it is higher, manual change infor-
mation will be provided with this manual. If the manual change sheets are missing, contact your nearest HP Sales
and Support Office. Refer to the listing at the back of this manual.
8-48. Revision letters (A, B, etc.) denote changes in printed circuit layout. For example, if a capacitor type is
changed (electrical value may remain the same) and requires different spacing for its leads, the printed-circuit
board layout is changed and the revision letter is incremented to the next letter. When a revision letter changes,
the series number is also usually changed. The production code is the four digit seven-segment number used for
production purposes.
