Faults
Engine overheats
White smoke emission (steam
in exhaust gas)
Gear oil exits at the vent hose
Water in the gear oil
Malfunction indicator lamp
lights up or flashes
The battery is discharged
Values in combination
instrument deleted (time, stop
watch, lap times)

Possible cause
Damaged cylinder head or
cylinder head gasket
Bent radiator hose
Thermostat defective
Damaged cylinder head or
cylinder head gasket
Too much gear oil added
Damaged shaft seal ring or
water pump
Defect in the fuel injection sys-
tem
The battery is not being
charged by the alternator
Unwanted power consumer
The combination instrument
battery is empty
Action
Check the cylinder head and cylinder
head gasket.
Change the radiator hose.
Check the thermostat.
Guideline
Opening temperature: 70 °C (158 °F)
Check the cylinder head and cylinder
head gasket.
Check the gear oil level. (
Check the shaft seal ring and water
pump.
Check the cabling for damage and the
electrical plug-in connections for corro-
sion and damage.
Read out the fault memory using the
KTM diagnostics tool.
Check the charging voltage.
Check the stator winding of the alter-
nator.
Check the open-circuit current.
Change the combination instrument.
