Changing the Engine Oil and Filter
Note:
Dispose of the used oil at a recycling center.
1.
Start the engine and let it run for 5 minutes.
Note:
This warms the oil so that it drains better.
2.
Park the machine so that the drain side is slightly
lower than the opposite side to ensure that the
oil drains completely.
3.
Disengage the blade-control switch (PTO) and
engage the parking brake.
4.
Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait
for all moving parts to stop before leaving the
operating position.
5.
Open the oil-fill cap.
6.
Place a drain pan under the drain valve

Open the valve and allow the oil to drain.

Fully close the valve.

Remove the engine-oil filter

Install the new oil filter.
11.
Fill the oil tank with the proper type of new oil;
refer to
Engine-Oil Specifications (page

Close the oil-fill cap.
13.
Check the oil level; refer to
Engine-Oil Level (page
14.
Start and run the engine. As the engine warms
up, check for any oil leaks.
15.
After verifying that there are no oil leaks, shut off
the engine and remove the key.
