Option 1: Direct duct from the lamp
For best management of cooling requirements, a dedicated lamp exhaust duct may be provided to pass hot air
generated by the printer to the exterior of the building.
One HVAC supply, one HVAC return, and one separate dedicated lamp exhaust duct are provided.
●
The lamp exhaust duct is connected to the lamp exhaust port at the rear of the printer and vents to the
●
exterior of the building.
The lamp exhaust temperature may reach a maximum of 90°C.
●
All HVAC ducts must be sized according to your local building codes.
●
A MERV13 filter is recommended on all building HVAC return ducts to prevent inadvertent particle intake.
●
Consult with your facilities manager and local codes regarding the risk of particle intake into your HVAC
system.
You should provide a minimum of 6 ACH (air changes per hour) of fresh air ventilation and a minimum room
●
volume of 35 m³ (1236 ft³). HP recommends 10 ACH for optimum operator comfort mainly if the room is
smaller than 35 m³ (1236 ft³).
Example room size: A 3.41 × 2.83 × 2.44 m (11.2 × 9.3 × 8 ft) room has a volume of 23.55 m³ (833.3 ft³). The
room requires 235.5 m³ (8333 ft³) of air to be exchanged per hour, or 3.925 m³ (139 ft³) per minute.
Independent of this requirement, 2.5 kW of cooling will be required to maintain operating temperatures.
