FILLING FUEL TANK
WARNING: EXPLOSIVE VAPORS and
FLAMMABLE FUEL can result in serious
injury or death. Handle fuel with care.
ALWAYS use an approved fuel container.
No Smoking! No Lighted Materials! No Open
Flame!
Allow engine to cool before maintenance.
Gasoline is highly flammable and must be
handled with care. Allow engine to cool several
minutes before removing fuel tank cap. Never
fill tank when engine is running or is hot from
operation. DO NOT allow open flame,
matches, or smoking in area. DO NOT overfill.
Allow about 1.4" (3.6 cm) of tank space for fuel
expansion. Wipe up any spills and allow
vapors to dissipate before starting engine. Use
approved (Red) gasoline container.
To add fuel to Fuel Tank:
1. Put unit in open or well ventilated area.
2. Stop engine, open engine hood, and allow engine
to cool.
3. Clean Fuel Cap and surrounding area to prevent
dust, dirt and debris from entering Fuel Tank.
4. Remove Cap.
DO NOT use gasohol or gasoline containing alcohol
because alcohol will cause internal parts to deteriorate.
See Engine Manual for correct type and grade of fuel.
NOTE: DO NOT USE GASOLINE CONTAINING
METHANOL (WOOD ALCOHOL). Gasoline containing
up to 10% ethanol or grain alcohol (Gasohol), or up to
15% MTBE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether), may be used
but requires special care when engine is unused for
extended periods.
5. Fill fuel tank. Refer to Engine Manual for fuel
type.
6. Replace Fuel Cap and tighten.
7. ALWAYS clean up any spilled fuel.
