RAYCOM OPERATION

Fax/Data Transmission

Automatic Level Setting (ALS)
When your RAYCOM detects a fax or modem call, it automatically adjusts the
Transmit and Receive audio levels for optimum data transmission. After the
fax/data transmission is completed, the unit resets the audio levels to their
previous settings.
Fax/Modem Compatibility
Your RAYCOM is compatible with most Fax
machines and computer modems. Depending
upon the type of modem used and the cellular
network's data capability, the Fax baud rate is
typically 7.2K bps or better and data is 4.8K bps
or better.
In the event that your service provider requires a
PIN to be input after the number is dialed, you will
need to adjust your dialing string to include the
PIN number. For a computer modem, enter the
phone number followed by 4 or more comma's
and then the PIN (i.e. 16035559876,,,,1234). The
commas instruct the modem to wait 1 second for
each comma before dialing the PIN number. A Fax
modem works in a similar fashion except the "pause" key is used in place of
commas. You may have to experiment with the number of commas or pauses
but 4 or 5 will usually do the trick.

Variable Dial Time (Auto SEND Delay) Option

When you place a call, your RAYCOM Cellular automatically sends the phone
number over the cellular network after you dial the last digit – just like a land-
line phone. However, to make sure you have enough time to dial the last digit, a
3-second Auto SEND Delay is programmed into the unit. This delay also affects
Special Functions such as Call Forwarding (see Special Cellular Services below).
You can set the Auto SEND Delay from 2 to 20 seconds using an ordinary
tone-dial (DTMF) phone, which is sometimes referred to as a POTS (Plain Old
Telephone Service) phone. Note: you cannot change the delay while you're
making a call.
How To Adjust the Auto SEND Delay - Pick up the telephone handset and
listen for dial tone. Then, enter the User-Programming mode by pressing:
