This innovative product allows you to connect stan- dard telephone equipment into a cellular network for the communications requirements on your boat. Please follow this guide to unpack, set up, and operate your new RAYCOM Cellular safely and properly.

    Installation Summary There are four basic steps to installing the RAYCOM Cellular properly. These steps are summarized below and explained in detail in the remainder of this manual. Step 1. Choose an Antenna and its Location • The type of antenna and its location can be one of the biggest factors in your installation.

    Step 1. Choose an Antenna and its Location Your RAYCOM Cellular receives operating commands from the cellular network and relies upon signal strength for proper operation. Therefore, proper loca- tion and installation of the antenna is critical for call quality.

    ON/OFF switch so a separate breaker on your electronics DC panel is recommended. 1) Your RAYCOM Cellular power cord is voltage regulated so that as long as the voltage source supplies 10 to 18VDC, the output of the power cord will be 12VDC.

    Step 3. Phone Number Setup If your RAYCOM Cellular was not programmed at your place of purchase, you need to contact a cellular provider to set up an account. You will need to tell them that the RAYCOM is an analogue system and works on the AMPS format.

  • Page 13 Step #6 - How to Override the Number of Dedicated Control Channels Press: # * 26 * _ _ # The spaces represent your 2-digit range of Dedicated Control Channels. When you first turn on the Raycom, it automatically scans up to 21 control channels looking for your cellular provider.
  • Page 14 The A-Key is a cellular system solution to prevent cloning, counterfeiting and cellular fraud. It’s a unique, 6- to 26-digit code provided by your service provider that validates your MIN (Mobile Identification Number) and ESN (Electronic Serial Number) before you make or receive calls. Once you’ve entered the A-Key, your RAYCOM automatically verifies the code with the cel- lular provider before every call.

    Step 4. Installation and Connection Now that you have selected the location and have run all of the required cabling, it is time to install the RAYCOM itself. But first let’s make sure all of the connections are good. 1) Screw in the antenna connector to the TNC jack on the RAYCOM, plug in the power connector, and plug in the RJ-11 (phone) plug into the RJ-11 jack on the bottom of the unit.

Four rubber feet are included with your RAYCOM in the event a desk- top installation is desired but for most marine applications, the unit should be mounted as specified above.

    Three-Way Conference Calls - For three-way conference calls, the Out-of- Band Signaling option must be enabled. Pressing the HOOKFLASH function transmits the SEND command.
