OPEN/CLOSE Press to open and close the disc tray or eject a videotape.
PAUSE/PLAY Plays a tape or disc. During playback, pauses the tape or disc.
POWER Turns the DVD/VCR on and off.
PREV.CH/GO BACK When in the menu system, takes you to the previous menu. Returns the DVD/VCR to the previous
channel. When the remote is in TV mode, returns an RCA, GE, or Proscan TV to the previous channel.
REC/ANGLE Starts VCR recording. During recordings, adds 30 minutes more of recording time (up to 4X). When watching
DVDs, press to access various camera angles, if available.
<< (REWIND) While playing a disc, press and release to skip back through contents one chapter or track at the time.
Press and hold while playing a DVD to search backwards at variable speeds. While playing a tape, searches backwards
through content.
SETUP/ENTER Brings up the DVD/VCR menu. In some menus, selects a menu item.
SHUTTLE During videotape playback, gradually increases or decreases the speed at which the tape advances or rewinds.
SKIP/F.ADV
While using a videotape, pressing this button advances the tape ahead in one minute increments, up to five
minutes. While using a videotape, pressing this button repeats the last 30 seconds of tape. When videotape or a DVD disc is
paused, it advances playback forward one frame at the time.
STOP Stops playback.
SUBTITLE/VCR PLUS+ When playing a DVD, shows available subtitle options. Also, brings up the VCR Plus+ menu.
TRK- and TRK+ Lets you manually reduce the streaks that may appear on the picture during videotape playback, slow
motion, or pause. Reduces picture "jitter" during stop-action videotape playback.
TV When used with an RCA, GE, or Proscan TV, turns on and controls the TV. Puts the remote in TV mode.
TV VIEW/INPUT Cycles through all of your input sources, including the DVD, VCR, TV tuner, Line1 (front A/V input), and
Line2 (rear A/V input) sources.
TV/VCR Switches the picture signal source between the VCR and cable/antenna system.
VCR Puts the remote in VCR mode so you can control the VCR deck. The VCR indicator will light on the front panel
display, showing that the VCR deck is selected.
VOL + and - Adjusts the volume level of the DVD/VCR. If your TV is GE, RCA, or Proscan, also controls your TV volume.
ZOOM/MUTE During DVD playback or when paused, displays a small picture of a magnifying glass that specifies an area
to be magnified. If your TV is GE, RCA, or Proscan, also reduces the TV volume to its minimum level.

Programming the Remote

The remote can be programmed to control most brands of TVs, VCRs, and DVD players. To program your remote:
1. Turn on the component (TV, VCR, or DVD) to be programmed and point the remote at the component.
2. Press and hold the component button (TV, VCR, or DVD) on the remote while you enter the brand's code from the
code list below:

Emerson 21
GE 01, 29
Hitachi 10
JVC 11
3. Release the buttons and press POWER to see if the component turns off. If it doesn't, press the component button (TV,
VCR, or DVD) and then press POWER again.
4. If it still does not turn off, repeat these steps using the next code listed for your brand until you get a response.
