Chapter 7
Radio Calls
This chapter explains the operations to receive, respond to, make, and stop calls. Calls supported are
Group, Private, and Broadcast calls.
Group Call
A call to a group of user. Your radio must be configured as a member of the group for you to
communicate with each other.
Private Call
A call from an individual radio to another individual radio.
Broadcast Call
A call from an individual radio to every radio or user of the broadcast talkgroup.
Used to make important announcements, that require your full attention.
You cannot respond to Broadcast Calls.

Group Calls

Your radio must be configured as part of a group to receive a call from or make a call to the group of
users.
7.1.1

Making Group Calls

Procedure:
1 Select a channel with the active talkgroup.
2 Press and hold the PTT button to make the call.
The green LED lights up. The display shows the talkgroup alias.
3 Wait for the Talk Permit Tone to end and speak clearly into the microphone.
4 Release the PTT button to listen.
The green LED blinks when the target radio responds. The display shows the talkgroup alias.
NOTE: The call ends when there is no voice activity for a predetermined period. The
radio returns to the screen you were on before initiating the call. The radio returns to the
screen you were on before initiating the call.

Responding to Group Calls

When you receive a Group Call:
