Cooking Rice
Rice Measuring Cup
– Do not throw away Rice Measuring Cup that comes with your unit. This is an important tool in using your Rice Cooker successfully as a rice cooker and its size is standard in rice industry. One Rice Measuring Cup equals 6 oz. (177 mL) or approximately 3/4 cup (U.S. standard measuring cup). This is based on the traditional Japanese gō measurement.
NOTE: For best results, rinse all rice in cold water and drain prior to cooking to remove surface starch and help prevent gummy rice.
Steamer Basket – Use to steam vegetables, meat, poultry, seafood, hard cook eggs, and prepared foods such as dumplings or rice noodle rolls.

Using Rice Cooker to Cook RICE/GRAINS or HOT CEREAL:

  1. Add desired amount of uncooked rice or hot cereal to Cooking Pot; then fill with water to corresponding water line.
Example: If you add 3 level Rice Measuring Cups of rice to Cooking Pot, add water to "3" line of Pot. DO NOT exceed 5.5- cup MAX. Refer to package directions for cooking hot cereal.
  2. Place Cooking Pot straight down on Base. Make sure Cooking Pot is securely placed into Base.
NOTE: Make sure bottom of Cooking Pot is not bent or warped, or it will not conduct heat correctly.
  3. Plug into outlet. Display will show 4 dashes.
  4. Press SELECT button for desired function; selected function and 4 dashed lines will flash. Rice Cooker will start to heat automatically after 5 seconds.
  5. At end of cooking time, Rice Cooker will automatically switch to WARM except when using EGG or STEAM functions. Rice Cooker will keep warm up to 12 hours, then sound an alarm and switch to standby mode. Use oven mitts if removing Cooking Pot from Base while still hot.

Program Functions
This Rice Cooker uses fuzzy logic to automatically adjust cooking times and temperatures based on amount of liquid in Cooking Pot. RICE/GRAINS and HOT CEREAL functions have preprogrammed cycles with a default cooking time that cannot be adjusted. Actual cooking time depends on amounts of ingredients and liquid. Cooking times can range from 30-60 minutes. Cooking will start and display will show a rotating dash until cooking process is almost complete. Then, display will begin to count down when Rice Cooker senses approximately 6 minutes left in cooking cycle. Rice Cooker automatically switches to WARM when finished cooking and will keep warm up to 12 hours.

Time Functions
Four functions can be adjusted to time you desire. After selecting function, press TIME ADJUST button to adjust time. Display will show rotating dashes until cooking temperature is reached, then timer will begin counting down. Rice Cooker automatically switches to WARM when finished cooking and will keep warm up to 12 hours.
NOTE:DELAY START function can be used with RICE/GRAINS and HOT CEREAL only.

To increase time, press TIME ADJUST Button until desired cooking time is displayed. Timer will count up in 30-minute increments from 1-10 hours and 1-hour increments from 10-14 hours.
