 Slowly pull down on the plunge lever to lower drill bit into
workpiece. Do not force the bit; let the tool do the work.
 Once the hole is completed, allow the plunge lever to
return to its normal position. This will automatically raise
the rotary tool and the bit.
 Turn on the rotary tool OFF when drilling operation is
finished.
DRILLING TIPS
 If a large hole is needed, it's a good idea to drill a smaller
pilot hole before drilling the final one. Your hole will be
more accurately positioned, rounder, and the bits will last
longer.
 If the hole is deeper than it is wide, back off occasionally
to clear the chips.
 When drilling metal, lubricate the bit with oil to improve
drilling action and increase bit life.
 As you increase the drill size, you may need to reduce
the bit rotation speed.
 If drilling a through hole, make sure that the bit will not
drill into the table after moving through the workpiece.
ADJUSTING THE DRILLING DEPTH
See Figure 21.
Adjust the drilling depth when you need to drill a number of
holes to exactly the same depth.
 Unplug the power cord or remove the battery pack from
the rotary tool.
 Loosen the depth stop knob on the back of the hobby
station.
 Determine the desired drilling depth.
 Move the depth stop knob until the indicator points to
the desired setting on the depth scale.
 Loosen the depth stop knob on the back of the hobby
station.
 Tighten the depth stop knob securely.
OPERATION
POLISHING AND SANDING
See Figure 22.
 Unplug the power cord or remove the battery pack from
the rotary tool.
 If applicable, slide the table away from the base and
reinstall it with the downdraft side facing up.
 Mount the rotary tool.
 Install a polishing or sanding accessory into the rotary
tool collet according to the rotary tool operator's manual.
 Adjust the height and position of the tool carrier and lock
it in place. For angled operation, bevel the tool carrier.
WARNING:
Operating the tool without the bevel lock knob and/or
the height and rotation lock lever secured can result in
serious injury.
 Plug the rotary tool in or install the battery pack.
 Turn on the rotary tool ON.
 Select the appropriate speed for accessory rotation
according to the rotary tool operator's manual. Make sure
accessory rotates freely.
 Hold the workpiece or object firmly in your hands and
carefully guide it into the accessory. Do not let your
fingers or any part of your body contact the rotating
accessory.
 When operation is complete, move the workpiece or
object away from the accessory and turn the rotary tool
off.
HANGING A ROTARY TOOL WITH FLEXIBLE
SHAFT
See Figures 23 - 24.
WARNING:
This product is designed to hold one rotary tool at a
time. Never attempt to place a rotary tool inside the tool
carrier and hang a rotary tool from the tool hanger at
the same time. Doing so can result in a tipping and/or
falling hazard that can result in serious personal injury or
property damage.
